Jobber Payments: Credit Card and ACH Processing Fees

Jobber Payments is built into every Jobber plan. Clients pay via a text link sent right after you complete a job. Here are the rates, how they compare, and when it makes sense to use a different processor.

Credit Card

2.9% + $0.30

Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover

Example: $500 job = $14.80 in fees

ACH (Bank Transfer)

1% ($0.50 min)

Direct from client bank account

Example: $500 job = $5.00 in fees

Monthly Fee Comparison by Volume

Estimated monthly processing fees assuming 100% credit card payments. ACH would be significantly cheaper.

How Jobber Payments Works

1

Complete the job

Mark the job as complete in Jobber. The system generates an invoice automatically based on your quote or the line items you added.

2

Send the invoice

Jobber sends the client a text message (or email) with a link to view and pay the invoice. This happens within seconds of job completion.

3

Client pays via link

The client taps the link on their phone, views the invoice, and pays with a credit card or bank account. The average time from invoice to payment is under 2 hours.

4

Funds deposited

Payment is deposited to your bank account within 2-5 business days. The payment is automatically marked as received in Jobber and synced to QuickBooks if connected.

When to Use Jobber Payments vs a Separate Processor

Use Jobber Payments When

  • You want clients to pay immediately after job completion via text link
  • You need automatic payment reconciliation with invoices
  • You value simplicity over saving a few tenths of a percent
  • You process less than $20K/month in cards

Consider a Separate Processor When

  • !You do mostly in-person tap/chip payments (Square is cheaper)
  • !You process $50K+/month and qualify for negotiated rates
  • !You need instant deposits (Square offers this for 1.75% extra)
  • !Most clients prefer to pay cash or check

When to Push ACH Over Credit Cards

ACH costs 1% vs 2.9% + $0.30 for credit cards. On a $1,000 invoice, that is $10 vs $29.30. For high-value jobs, the savings add up fast.

Invoice AmountCredit Card FeeACH FeeYou Save
$200$6.10$2.00$4.10
$500$14.80$5.00$9.80
$1,000$29.30$10.00$19.30
$2,500$72.80$25.00$47.80
$5,000$145.30$50.00$95.30

Tip: For commercial clients and recurring contracts over $500, proactively offer ACH as the default payment method. Most commercial clients prefer it anyway since it comes directly from their business account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Jobber Payments mandatory?
No. Jobber Payments is optional on all plans. You can use any payment processor or collect checks and cash. However, Jobber Payments is integrated directly into the invoicing workflow, enabling clients to pay via text link immediately after a job is completed, which significantly speeds up collections.
How fast are Jobber Payments deposits?
Standard deposits arrive in 2-5 business days. Jobber Payments does not currently offer instant or next-day deposits. If cash flow speed is critical, you may want to compare with Square, which offers instant deposits for an additional 1.75% fee.
Can I use Jobber Payments for recurring billing?
Yes. You can set up recurring invoices in Jobber and pair them with Jobber Payments for automatic collection. Clients can save a payment method on file and be charged automatically on a schedule. This is particularly useful for landscaping businesses with weekly or monthly mowing contracts.
Does Jobber charge a monthly fee for payment processing?
No. There is no monthly fee for Jobber Payments beyond your plan subscription. You only pay the per-transaction processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 for credit cards, 1% for ACH). There are no setup fees, no minimum monthly processing requirements, and no cancellation fees for the payment processing itself.
